How we handle your information

Effective October 20, 2026. This policy covers shalomstrategies.com, the forms on it, the private links we send, and the information we handle about people we recruit, canvassers we engage, and others whose information reaches us through our work, such as contacts at organizations and voters in the programs we staff.

Who we are

Shalom StrategiesTM recruits, vets, and places canvassers on field programs run by campaigns and by the field-services firms that serve them, and offers marketing and Jewish engagement consulting. Questions about this policy can go to info@shalomstrategies.com.

What we collect

  • Canvasser applications: your name, email, phone number, the city, county, or campaign you are applying for, your available start date, your answers to the screening questions (including whether you are available through Election Day, have reliable transportation and prior experience, can conduct the survey in English or Spanish, are comfortable surveying for conservative candidates, and are willing to complete a background check), and your consent to be contacted.
  • Proposal, consultation, and contact requests: your name, email, and any organization, role, phone number, program details (such as the service you need, target area, estimated doors, dates, and budget), or message you choose to send.
  • Saved progress: answers are saved on our server as you fill out a form so you can finish later. Once you enter your email, our staff can see your unfinished form, and we may email you a private link to finish, either when you ask for one or if you leave the form unfinished.
  • Technical information: your IP address and basic request details, which we use to protect our forms from abuse and which our hosting provider keeps in server logs.
  • Where you found us: the name of the website that sent you to our site, such as facebook.com (never the address of the page you were on), and which of our posted links you used, if you used one. We keep it with your application or request to see which of our postings reach people.
  • Visit counts: for the first page you open on our site in a browser tab, we record that page, the date and time, the name of the website that sent you, whether you arrived from a Facebook link, and which of our posted links you used. We do not record your IP address or browser details with it, and we use no cookies for it.
  • Map searches: the places and street addresses you type into the homepage map are sent to the U.S. Census Bureau to find them. We do not keep them with any form or record about you, though a search can appear in our hosting provider's request logs. If you use the map's link to request a proposal, the area you picked is copied into the proposal form.
  • Recruiting lists: lists of people we may invite to apply, which we get from sources other than our site. They can include your name, phone number, location, the states you can work in, when you could start, whether you can travel, a staff rating, whether a firm we work with has hired you, and notes on our outreach. If you reach us another way, such as by phone or through a referral, staff may enter your details by hand.
  • Organization contacts: the names and email addresses of contacts at organizations and groups where we share our job posting, which we keep in our log of where the posting went.
  • Staff notes: notes our staff add, such as where you live, where your application stands, and how your assignment is going.

If we move forward with you as a canvasser, we also collect:

  • Background check report: a copy of your report, once you have authorized a check (see Background checks below), including its results and the identifying details the provider lists.
  • Identity document: photos of the front and back of your driver's license, which you upload through a private link we email you, or which our staff add if you send them another way. We encrypt them when we store them and use them to confirm your identity and set up your assignment, including travel.
  • Placement details: your full legal name, date of birth, home address, phone number, email, and start date, which we need to place you on a program. We may copy some of them from your background check report.
  • Onboarding: whether you finished the required training and set up your account on the program's canvassing app. You can tell us on our onboarding page with the email or phone number you applied with.
  • Travel: the hotel, flight, and ground transportation we arrange for out-of-town assignments, and receipts you send us for reimbursement.
  • Work records: the doors, times, and outcomes logged under your name in the program's canvassing app. We import them, keep the export file, and use them to calculate your pay and review the quality of the work.
  • Payment details: once we approve you for an assignment, we email you a private link where you upload your completed IRS Form W-9 (which includes your Social Security number or EIN) and enter your direct deposit details. We encrypt them as soon as we receive them, except the last four digits of your account number and whether it is checking or savings, which we keep to tell accounts apart. Only our administrators can see them, and we use them only to pay you and to file your 1099.

Except on the payment link, please do not enter Social Security numbers, bank or card details, or passwords on this site. Our forms try to catch some of these, but please leave them out.

How we use it

  • To review applications and requests, including forms you started but did not submit, and to respond to them.
  • To contact you about the opportunity or request you submitted.
  • To find people and invite them to apply.
  • To see which of our postings and links bring visitors and applicants.
  • To confirm identity and eligibility, coordinate assignments, and book travel.
  • To pay contractors, file 1099s, and review the quality of completed work.
  • To prepare proposals and keep business records.
  • To keep the site secure and to meet legal obligations.

Calls, texts, and email

By checking the consent box on the canvasser application, you agree that we may contact you about this opportunity by call, text (including automated texts), or email at the number and address you provided. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any text to opt out of texts, or email info@shalomstrategies.com to stop all contact. Consent is not a condition of engagement.

We may also call, text, or email people on our recruiting lists to invite them to apply. Reply STOP to any text, or email info@shalomstrategies.com, and we will stop.

Background checks

We do not run background checks through this website. If you are selected for an assignment that requires one, you will receive a separate written disclosure and will be asked for your written authorization before any check is run. Checks are run by a consumer reporting agency, currently Checkr. We receive a copy of your report and store it encrypted. We copy the identifying details on it into our placement records, which are not encrypted, and use them to complete your placement, including what we share with the firm running your program (see Who we share it with).

Who we share it with

We do not sell personal information. We do not share your phone number or your consent to receive texts with third parties for their own marketing. We share information only:

  • With service providers that run parts of our site and operations for us: Railway (website hosting and our database), Resend (email delivery), Microsoft (our staff email, which receives copies of applications), Google (the spreadsheets we keep staffing records in), and GitHub (where we keep our site's code, some of our recruiting lists, and our log of where our job posting went).
  • With Google Fonts, OpenFreeMap, and the U.S. Census Bureau, as described under Cookies and outside services.
  • With the campaign or field-services firm whose program we put you forward for, limited to what is needed to set up and coordinate that assignment. This can include your full name, date of birth, phone number, email, home address, and start date. For some programs, we share these details by adding them to a staffing spreadsheet the firm can see. We add you to it, or fill in a row that is already yours, only from the background check stage on. We share with each firm only the details for its own program, and we keep each firm's staffing spreadsheet separate.
  • With airlines, hotels, and ground transportation companies when we book travel for your assignment, limited to what they need for the booking.
  • With the bank or payment service we use to pay you, and with the IRS when we file your 1099.
  • With the canvassing app the program uses. You create your own account on it, and the app's own privacy terms apply.
  • With the background check provider, once you authorize a check.
  • When required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of people or our business.

Voter information

When we staff a program, canvassers record survey responses in that program's canvassing app, and we receive exports of the completed work. These include voter names, addresses, voter ID numbers, visit times, and survey responses, and we keep a copy of each file as we received it. That information belongs to the campaign or firm running the program, and we use it only for that program: to calculate pay, review quality, and report on progress.

Cookies and outside services

The public site sets no cookies and uses no advertising or analytics services. During a visit, your browser's session storage keeps the name of the website that sent you here and the posted link you used, and on our private links it keeps the link's key so the page still works if you reload it. Session storage clears when you close the tab. Staff sign-in uses a cookie for staff only. Our pages load fonts from Google Fonts, and the homepage map loads map tiles from OpenFreeMap, so those services receive your IP address when you visit. Searches on the homepage map go to the U.S. Census Bureau.

How long we keep it

A form you start but never submit is deleted about 24 hours after you last update it, and finish-later links expire after 24 hours. Private upload links for payment details and identity documents expire after 7 days.

We do not delete your information automatically when an assignment ends or when we stop moving forward with your application. We keep submitted applications and requests, our recruiting lists, the canvassing app exports we import, and the records about contractors we engage (W-9s, payment details, identity documents, background check reports, placement details, and travel and work records) until we no longer need them for the purposes above, for our business records, or as tax and other laws require. Copies of applications also stay in our staff email, placement details we add to our staffing spreadsheets stay there, and earlier versions of the recruiting lists and posting log we keep on GitHub stay in its history.

Some copies are kept by others. The campaign or firm whose program we put you forward for keeps the details we shared with it, even if you did not join, and may keep its own copies of a staffing spreadsheet we share with it. The canvassing app keeps your account and the work logged under your name. Checkr keeps its own background check records. To ask them to delete their copies, contact them directly.

Your choices

You can ask to see, correct, or delete the information we hold about you by emailing info@shalomstrategies.com. We will respond as the law requires. We may keep records the law requires us to keep, and some copies may remain: those held by the others named above, copies in our staff email, and earlier versions in our GitHub history.

Security

We use reasonable safeguards to protect the information we hold, including encrypted connections, limited staff access, and encrypting W-9s, bank routing and account numbers (except the last four digits of the account number), identity documents, background check reports, and receipts when we store them in our staff hub. Files you send us by email or text, and files our staff download, are outside that encryption. No system is perfectly secure.

Children

This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

We will post any changes on this page and update the effective date above.
